It really is the year for Tipperary GAA Hurling with another feather to add to it's cap.

The Tipperary Masters team took on the mighty men from Wexford in the Tier 1 Michael Weeks Gaelic Masters Hurling Perpetual Cup in Enniscorthy on Saturday 30 August.

With a home setting, the Model men may have hoped this would provide them with the advantage needed to avenge last year’s defeat, however the Premier showed they are comfortable performing anywhere.

Tipperary were dominant from the get-go with a lead of 1-6 to 0-1 after 15 minutes. Veterans of Tipperary hurling such as Lar Corbett, Eoin Kelly and Captain Shane McGrath took to the field under the leadership of manager Ger ‘Redser’ O’Grady.   Not to be outshone, Redser brought himself on in the last quarter of the game, scored a cracker of a goal and swiftly substituted himself back to the sideline.  The game ended with a full time score Tipperary Masters 3-24 (33) and Wexford Masters 0-12 (12).

With that said, I must draw attention to our very own clubman Derek Horan. After a highly successful North Tipperary Intermediate campaign in July, he has now added an All Ireland Hurling medal to his list of sporting achievements.  Derek delivered an outstanding performance playing at half back for the Masters.

Congratulations to Derek and the Tipp GAA Masters Team on a wonderful victory.
