The programme follows presenter Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh as she embarks on “Unravelling Shane: The Shane MacGowan Tour,” a cultural journey through County Tipperary celebrating the life and legacy of Shane MacGowan.
Along the way, she explores the towns, landscapes, and family connections that shaped his early years and went on to influence his music. The programme also meets those behind the tour—including family members and local organisers—showcasing how his story continues to be preserved through music, storytelling, and heritage tourism.
During the journey, Bláthnaid visits Ballinderry Sports Field, where she speaks with Willie Lennox, Secretary of Shannon Rovers GAA Club. Together, they discuss Shane’s family ties to the club and his support for both the team and the sports field. They also take a look at a range of commemorative jerseys, including a newly launched tour jersey—all of which are available to purchase online - https://shannonroversclubstore.myshopify.com/collections/frontpage
