North Under13 Champions

Lorrha Rovers defeated Borrisokane 0-7 to 0-2 in a well contested North Tipperary Under 13 C Hurling Final played at Moneygall last Saturday at noon.

This was a whole hearted display by the team with every sector playing vital roles against a never say die Borrisokane side.

James Cormican gave Lorrha/Rovers the perfect start with a point after ninety seconds. Adrian Egan levelled matters with a free in the fourth minute before Lorrha Rovers went on to take a 0-4 to 0-1 lead at half time after points by Adam Hourigan (free), and James Cormican who brought his tally to three before the break.

Adrian Egan’s free, eight minutes into the second half had narrowed the gap to two but the Lorrha Rovers defence shut up shop and in the final quarter they were repaid with the accurate stick of Con Cleary who scored three unanswered frees to give the Combination some breathing space.

Borrisokane never gave up and with Paraic Maher defiant in defence the Green brigade applied extra pressure on the Rovers goal in those final moments but Fionn Kennedy and his vigilant defence were alert to two efforts for goal from close in frees by Maher and Egan. It was game over when referee Sean O’Maolain called full time before joint winning captains Max Fitzgerald Adam Hourigan received the winning silverware from North Chairman Joey Murphy. Full time, Lorrha/Shannon Rovers 0-7 Borrisokane 0-2.

Lorrha/Shannon Rovers: Fionn Kennedy; Justin Carroll, Sean Costello; Thomas Cormican, Adam Hourigan, Lorcan Kelly; Max Fitzgerald, Thomas Leenane; Conal O’Crowley, Eoin Kennedy, Con Cleary; Jack Leenane, James Cormican 0-3.

Subs used: Oisin Duggan, Michael Doyle, Jack Donohue.

County Intermediate Hurling

After the disappointment of losing the first round to Kilsheelan Kilcash the Rovers returned to winning ways with a 3-13 to 1-14 win over Ballybacon Grange at Borrisoleigh last Sunday afternoon.

The win gives Rovers the possibility of avoiding a relegation battle and their bid for an automatic place in the quarter finals will face a major task in taking on Golden Kilfeacle in the third and final round. See match report.

Under 19 B Hurling

After winning just one of their three rounds in the Group stage of the North Under 19 B Hurling championship, Lorrha Rovers interest in the championship evaporated. Looking at the knockout semi finals stage, Burgess, one of the teams in our group, defeated Ballinahinch/Templederry in one of the semi finals while Kiladangan lost heavily to Moneygall/Clonakenny in the other semi final.

Minor Hurling (under 17 A)

Sadly it was exit time as Lorrha Rovers, despite playing bravely, lost to Burgess 5-19 to 3-13 in the quarter final at MacDonagh Park, Nenagh last Monday evening, August 18th.

Team: Gwylin Tooher; Jack Hourigan Michael Donoghue, John Coonan; Darragh Duffy, Killian Fitzgerald, Michael Gorman; Rory Fox, Aaron MacDonagh; Adam Guest, Paddy Houlihan, Sam Madden; Michael O’Meara, Alan Burke, Nayton Young.

Under 15 B Hurling

In the latest round Lorrha Rovers lost to Burgess 1-23 to 0-9 at Ballinderry last Thursday evening. The defeat means a quarter final game with either Portroe, Borris-Ileigh or Moneygall. There was no pairing made at the time of writing. Burgess and Kiladangan are through to the semi finals.
